Writing of Script or Thesis for Reseacher

Art of Writing English - Importance of Writing Skill Most that is good in life comes from men's ability to make their fellows share their thoughts and feelings. But it is not always an easy thing to make others see how we feel or think. The young child is called an infant, a word that means unable to speak. Half his miseries arise from his inability to communicate his notions. Men are but children of a larger growth, and much of their misery results from inability to tell what they think or feel. In a sense the case is worse for the man than for the child. The child makes gestures and grimaces to help his meaning out, but the grown man has to communicate by letters and other compositions. Both in English writing and speaking there are many special laws that must be observed if there is to be real communication. The special laws of spoken language are not so numerous as those of written language. Written language has to be much more careful than spoken; the writer has no chance of correcting himself on the spot if not understood. All writing consists of sentences that may be defined as series of words so arranged that they express a thought. Sentences are the basis of written and spoken language. Words do not make sentences unless they are arranged in accordance with the rules of grammar, logic, or common sense. Nevertheless knowledge of how to communicate by written words is a very great help in communicating orally. The art of communicating by means of written English words is called English composition, or rhetoric. A matter of prime importance to each man is that, in business or in society, he should be able to say or write exactly what he means. A businessman may lose money by failing to make himself clearly understood; misunderstandings and quarrels arise between friends because some one has failed to write just what he meant; a man is liable to be taken for a boor if he abuses the English language. Writing is a trade in which every educated man, woman, and child should be skilled. Writing is a trade, which any one can master if he goes about it in the right way. It is true that writing skill is often the only trade of some people like the poets, novelists, newspaper reporters and editors. These might be called specialists in writing, and writing is their main occupation and way of making a living. But writing skill is a universal trade and it is necessary for every person to know it to a certain extent. A person will never regret the time he spends in perfecting his instrument of expression. He should work steadily toward the point where he may come to have an abiding love for that which is lucid and beautiful in expression by words. No matter how practical the life he plans to lead, the power of writing down his ideas in good English, in a way that will leave no doubt as to what he meant and how earnestly he meant it, will always profit him. Writing softwares like English writing software or business writing software with text enrichment tool can be used for writing a good personal or business communication. Writing software can also be used to check and correct English grammar, spellings and for proofreading. By Stephen Thomson A Guide To Writing A Good Research Proposal By: Author: Jennifer Banks If you are at University reading a degree or a PhD then at some point you will be expected to write a lengthy dissertation as a part of your studies. To achieve this it will be necessary to prepare a research proposal. A research proposal is a short document designed to provide a detailed outline of your project. Although it can appear daunting if you have not attempted a proposal previously, if you take the time to understand what is expected of you and then logically explain each step then you will be able to write an acceptable research proposal. This article will help to explain what is expected in the proposal and how you should attempt to structure it. The purpose of a research proposal is to help the tutor establish some key areas of your dissertation. Primarily, the paper needs to demonstrate that you have a purposeful research question and that you have a firm understanding of the literature that surrounds the question. You need to be aware of all the major debates related to the topic and provide a convincing need to ask the proposed questions. Most Universities will also need to be convinced that the research question can be suitably matched with a member of the academic staff that has the relevant knowledge. Finally, the paper must produce a reasonable plan of action for the duration of the proposed research and an estimated completion date. With all this in mind, you need to consider the following questions. Why is my research question relevant to the current debate and how will I develop my argument? To address this you should structure the proposal using the following headings. Title: This is obviously an important part of the process. You need to engage the reader with a short, relevant title that clearly demonstrates what the problem is and why this is important. Abstract: This should be a few short paragraphs that identifies the key questions above about the importance of your research question. Make sure that you are able to relate the specific question to the general discipline. Literature Review: After you have established the importance of the question, you need to provide a comprehensive understanding of the research that has been carried in the field to date. It is important that you fully demonstrate your knowledge of the topic as this will allow you to argue the need for your specific research. The Research Question: Having argued the need for further research, you should then write down the clear hypothesis of the study. Clearly define what the purpose of the research is and the goals that you intend to achieve. Methodology: This is a critical part of the research proposal. You need to identify how you plan to carry out the research and discuss any potential problems. The methods used will vary from project to project, but should demonstrate knowledge of the relevant techniques. You need to explain how you plan to record data and how that data will be analyzed. Ethics: Dependent on the subject, you may need to address any possible issues related to ethics. These may be simply ensuring that you have consent to use certain data for your project. Timeframe: You should provide a brief outline of the estimated time needed to complete each section of the research. Bibliography: Finally, you need to provide a brief bibliography of the reading that you have done at this stage of the project. This should not be a wish list, you must only include resources that you have genuinely used and reference them according to your university's guidelines. By Daniel Millions A research paper itself is still a basic homework assignment – a writing that has the beginning and the end. You can have an idea on how research paper writing begins and ends. What you still need is the idea how to connect these two points. Research paper outline is just what you are going to use to match the two sides of your academic writing. An outline for a research paper is basically 60 percent of the work done. While writing a research paper outline, you basically write the main parts of the assignment. Admit it – it’s much easier to adjust or rewrite several points in an outline than rewriting a whole paragraph or even several paragraphs in a research paper itself. When starting to work on a research paper outline, sit down and focus on the sub topics of your main topic, so-called additional questions – they add new details to your problem and help make a research paper more complete. Write all the ideas down. Now look at how you can prove these points to be true, and supplement your ideas with facts. Now you have something that has to be organized into a logical sequence with smooth transitions. A research paper outline has to be crowned with one important text requisite, and it is the thesis statement. Once it is found, look at your ideas one more time to see whether any of them weakens your main statement. If they don’t, you are ready to put together your research paper outline. It will start with the thesis statement, and have your ideas (one per step, which will mean one per paragraph) organized. In the end you can mark the most important thoughts to later form them into a conclusion. Ta-dah, your research paper outline is completed.
